Terms of Use
These terms govern the RansomBackup FREE public beta. Accepting them during setup requests service activation under the rules below.
1. Service and beta status
RansomBackup provides storage for an encrypted Restic repository and a gateway separating backup and restore permissions. The current release is a public beta: features and interfaces may change and interruptions may occur. It is an additional copy, not a replacement for a complete strategy including another verified copy.
2. FREE plan and storage
FREE includes up to 2 GiB (2,147,483,648 bytes) of physical encrypted, deduplicated repository storage. Daily traffic and original folder size are not measured. About 200 MiB of technical tolerance may help finish a backup started below quota, but is not included capacity and cannot guarantee completion.
3. Free backup and restore pricing
Under FREE, creating and keeping backups within quota has no subscription or charge. Customers pay only if they choose to request a restore. The personal restore price is available in the account before confirmation and payment, and no charge is automatic. The service aims to offer the most favourable possible price based on actual account data without publishing its internal pricing formula.
4. Quota, suspension and upgrade
Progressive warnings are generated. Once quota is reached, later backups are suspended and existing snapshots remain while the account is active. Customers may request a paid plan or create a separate archive with a new account and different email. Data, passwords, tokens and account age are not transferred automatically.
During beta, PLUS is presented at €19 per month with manual activation and payment. Final features, duration and amount are confirmed in writing before activation; the web page alone does not accept an order.
5. Inactivity, quarantine and deletion
A FREE account with no qualifying activity for 60 consecutive days is disabled. Qualifying activity includes a completed backup, authenticated account access and restore operations. Failed attempts or automatic quota-blocked checks do not stop the countdown.
The repository then remains in technical quarantine for 7 days and is permanently deleted with the account. Recovery is impossible afterwards. Warnings are sent when possible, but failed email delivery does not suspend the rule.
6. Password, tokens and restore
Customers must keep the private password offline and protect devices and tokens. Restore requires that password and applicable authorization. BACKUP cannot delete the repository or download data packs; a temporary RESTORE token enables approved recovery.
7. Prohibited content and use
Customers must have the right to process stored data. Illegal content, malware distribution, infringement, abuse and access attempts against other repositories are prohibited. Accounts may be suspended for security, abuse, legal obligation or material breach.
8. Customer responsibilities
Customers must review backup results, retain another copy, periodically test restore, maintain a correct email and install updates. A successful status does not remove the need for verification.
9. Availability and liability
To the extent allowed by law, the beta carries no guarantee of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose. RansomBackup is not responsible for loss caused by a missing password, unselected folders, pre-existing corruption or encryption, ignored warnings or use contrary to instructions. Mandatory consumer rights and non-excludable liabilities remain unaffected.
10. Changes, closure and contact
Material changes require renewed acceptance or suitable notice. Contact help@ransombackup.com for support, early closure, PLUS or privacy requests. Italian law applies without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections and venue.
